APS 6 - Data Analyst

The Australian Government's Business Intelligence and Visualisation (BI&V) directorate is seeking a skilled data analyst to drive business insights and support Defence enterprise projects. This role not only involves data analysis but extends to team management and leadership development within the data field. BI&V is committed to providing high-quality business intelligence and visualisation services, focusing on delivering fast and actionable insights.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Analyze data and develop data products within a specialized team.
• Lead stakeholder engagement for scope and requirements gathering.
• Provide expert advice on data concepts and tools.
• Troubleshoot issues on analytical platforms and deliver products.
• Manage and present training delivery.
• Initiate client communication and advise on business improvements.
• Develop guidance for data interpretation and insights.
• Define and develop dashboards and reports using analytical tools.
• Resolve problems with expertise and introduce alternative actions.
• Contribute to project management for data product development.
• Manage and develop teams.

This role requires you to have:

• Demonstrated experience in developing and supporting analytical products.
• Experience with managing teams and aspiring to leadership roles.
• Ability to manage workload under pressure and communicate effectively.
• Experience with SQL, data analysis, and visualisation tools like Tableau and Power BI.
