The Australian Government's Parks Australia Division, a part of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, seeks an Ecological Data Scientist. This role supports the delivery of innovative applied science solutions across Australia. The team works to preserve unique natural and cultural heritage, collaborating extensively with diverse stakeholders.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Conduct research, analysis, and evaluation of ecological datasets, including camera trap and drone data.
- Develop and implement digital solutions for diverse operational outcomes.
- Perform independent research, draft reports, and publish journals on program activities.
- Oversee trials of new data collection methods and real-time analytics.
- Manage geospatial projects across various applications in the Department.
- Provide expert technical advice to stakeholders to meet project requirements.
- Prepare technical manuals for clearance by senior staff.
