Senior Data Analyst

Australian Government - Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water

The Emissions Reduction Division within the Department focuses on developing and executing policies to cut Australia's greenhouse gas emissions and track national progress. The National Inventory Systems and International Reporting Branch manages Australia's National Greenhouse Accounts, which estimate emissions by sector and jurisdiction, supporting the nation’s mitigation strategies.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Lead the compilation of fugitive emissions estimates for the oil and gas sector in Australia's National Greenhouse Accounts
• Research and design methods to improve the accuracy and completeness of emissions estimation
• Advise policymakers on fugitive emissions estimation methods and trends
• Respond to information and analysis requests regarding Australia's emissions and accounting frameworks
• Support the team in departmental and government-wide briefings
• Participate in international reviews of emissions estimates and opportunities to gain qualifications for reviewing other countries' estimates under Paris Agreement processes

• Experience in emission estimation method development
• Advising on and resolving complex technical issues
• Managing competing priorities and time-sensitive tasks
