Bupa Optical is searching for a skilled Senior Data Engineer to join their centralised Data Engineering Team. This team supports Bupa ANZ's data strategy by developing future state data platforms with Microsoft Azure. The role centers on enhancing Bupa's data platforms, contributing to the company's strategic use of data to drive performance across business units such as Health Insurance and Health Services.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Provide thought leadership and consulting to stakeholders on data use and technology.
- Translate detailed data requirements into Epics, Features, and Stories.
- Lead estimations for story delivery efforts.
- Oversee design and code review processes at the team level.
- Develop detailed design deliverables in line with existing architecture and design standards.
- Contribute to the evolution of data design standards, frameworks, and practices.
- Engineer data pipelines and features supporting analytical processes.

This role requires you to have:
- 5-10 years of experience as a software or data engineer.
- Proficiency in Cloud Data Platforms with a preference for Azure.
- Expertise in SQL/TSQL and Python.
- Experience with SAS Code.
- Advanced skills in CI/CD and engineering practices.
- Experience mentoring engineers and conducting code reviews.
- Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
You would benefit from having:
- Experience with DataBricks, Spark, AWS, and GCP.
- Experience using Github Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or DataBrick Copilot.
