The Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) is seeking a dedicated Senior Data Analyst, tasked with supporting their Calculations Team in ensuring business compliance with workplace laws. Located in the Regulatory Transformation Group within the Analytics and Intelligence Branch, this role involves collaboration with internal teams such as Fair Work Inspectors and workplace relations experts to analyze payroll records. This position is an opportunity to contribute to FWO's mission of providing education, ensuring compliance, and undertaking investigations pursuant to the Fair Work Act.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Design and develop complex data analysis models and refine existing calculations using R, Power BI, Power Query, and Excel.
  • Develop data mining and analysis solutions on payroll data from various employers.
  • Automate solutions for large and complex payroll records to support investigations.
  • Apply accurate methodologies for time and wage calculations in corporate payroll investigations.
  • Streamline existing processes and ensure continuous improvement of calculation tools.
  • Lead calculations matters to timely and thorough completion.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders to efficiently resolve issues.
  • Manage competing work priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Contribute innovative ideas and integrate into broader OFWO activities.
  • Enhance in-house calculations capabilities through training and mentoring.
