The Department of Finance of the Government of Manitoba is searching for a Data Analyst skilled in economic and fiscal reporting. This role is crucial for managing and analyzing extensive statistical data, supporting the bureau's mission to fulfil Manitoba's statistical needs as the designated provincial statistical contact. The chosen candidate will play a key role in supporting policy development through data-driven insights and collaborate with multiple government units.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Collect, clean, and validate data from surveys and databases.
  • Perform quantitative analyses to identify economic trends.
  • Develop economic models to forecast and evaluate proposals.
  • Prepare reports and visualizations for stakeholders.
  • Interpret data trends related to GDP, employment, and inflation.
  • Analyze the economic impact of proposed legislation and programs.
  • Collaborate with government departments and the public.

This role requires you to have:

  • Post-secondary education in economics, statistics, or data science.
  • Experience with economic and fiscal reporting.
  • Experience with large databases and quantitative techniques.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization.
  • Experience with Input-Output models.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Understanding of the National Statistical framework.
