Data Analyst

The Ministry of Energy and Resources is searching for a Data Analyst to join the Lands and Mineral Tenure Branch, focusing on geomatics and business systems. This role involves designing data-related elements for technical solutions. The successful candidate will support data management systems and help integrate new functionalities into the Ministry’s IRIS system.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Design and implement data models, physical database designs, and manage meta-data.
• Support and manage Microsoft Access databases related to mineral dispositions and land claims.
• Develop plans to migrate databases to the Integrated Resource Information System (IRIS).
• Gather requirements, develop logical data models, and create prototype databases.
• Incorporate GIS functionality for managing geospatial data.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing and prepare user guides.
• Provide training sessions to end users.
• Use Cognos for querying and reporting on petroleum and mineral production data.
• Provide backup support for GIS tasks and prepare maps using ArcGIS.

This role requires you to have:

• Advanced Microsoft Access skills
• Knowledge in Computer Science or related field
• Experience in database management
