Senior Manager, Data Engineer

RBC is searching for a seasoned Senior Manager in Data Engineering to join their Enterprise Payment’s Decision Management team. The position involves enhancing data capabilities and driving better data-driven decisions by developing scalable platforms for analytics and data science. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in transforming raw data into actionable insights.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Analyze and develop software to generate data assets for data analysis and reporting teams
• Collaborate on big data and cloud technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Neo4j, and Kafka
• Engage with stakeholders to design and develop data assets effectively
• Join data across diverse environments using complex queries
• Utilize programming languages and tools like Scala, Spark, GitHub, and Airflow for software deployment
• Develop ETL pipelines using Python and PySpark integrated with Apache Airflow
• Lead data engineering processes to generate innovative insights
• Consult with stakeholders to manage project milestones and expectations

This role requires you to have:

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related STEM field
• Professional experience with Scala, Spark, Hadoop, Neo4j, Java, Linux, and SQL
• Experienced in the big data ecosystem including tools like Hadoop, Spark, and NoSQL/SQL databases
• Proficiency in Git and Maven for collaborative software development
• Strong programming capability in Python or R
• Advanced SQL proficiency for complex data extraction and integration
