Technical Safety BC is an independent organization dedicated to overseeing safe operations of technical systems in British Columbia. As part of the Research and Analytics team, the Data Scientist will employ data science leadership to drive positive change, focusing on safety data analysis and implementation of advanced technologies like machine learning and natural language processing. The role's objective is to support smarter safety oversight and business decisions, contributing to the transformation of business processes.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Design, build, test, and deploy Knowledge Graph, machine learning, and NLP models.
- Develop innovative solutions and proofs of concept using KG, ML, NLP, and LLMs.
- Apply data science leadership to enhance safety decision-making.
- Communicate analytics use cases clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the BI team to support BI development projects.
- Work with various complex data sources including social media APIs.

This role requires you to have:
- Expertise in Knowledge Graph, NLP/LLM, and ML techniques.
- Proficiency in Python and prompt engineering.
- Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Skill in building and optimizing data pipelines and architectures.
- Experience with AWS cloud services.
You would benefit from having:
- Experience with agile project management.
- Fluency in Tensorflow, Hugging Face, and Pytorch.
- Master’s Degree or above in a relevant field.
- Ability to independently learn new technologies.
