The Senior Data Engineer role exists to design and operate data infrastructure, optimize database engines, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support data infrastructure and business requirements.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Keep customer data separate and secure to meet compliance requirements.
  • Design, build, and operate data infrastructure for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading from various sources using SQL, cloud migration tools, and big data technologies.
  • Optimize different RDBMS engines in the cloud and resolve security, performance, and operational issues for customers.
  • Create and operate large, complex data lakes that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
  • Optimize the ingestion, storage, processing, and retrieval of various data types, including real-time events, IoT, and unstructured data like images, audio, video, and documents.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders, including executive, product, data, software development, and design teams, to address data-related technical challenges and support data infrastructure and business requirements.

This role requires you to have:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Engineer in a cloud-native ecosystem.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
  • Good communication skills in German and English.
  • Experience with big data tools like Spark, ElasticSearch, Hadoop, Kafka, Kinesis, etc.
  • Relational and NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, Postgres, DynamoDB, and Cassandra.
  • Cloud data services, especially AWS tools like Kinesis, EMR, and Redshift.
  • Functional and scripting languages like Python, Java, Scala, and advanced SQL.
  • Building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures, and datasets.
  • Knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and scalable big data storage.
  • Experience supporting and collaborating with external clients in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both in German and English.
  • Team player with the ability to train and learn from others.
  • Advantageous: Experience with various ML models for classification, scoring, etc.
  • Advantageous: Experience with deep learning neural networks, convolution, NLP, etc.
