The Center for the Transformation of Chemistry (CTC), part of the Max Planck Institute, is dedicated to revolutionizing the chemical industry by focusing on sustainability and resilience. The role of Data Scientist plays a crucial role in advancing understanding of environmental impacts through predictive modeling.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement machine learning and deep learning solutions related to predictive LCA.
  • Analyze complex datasets from Ecoinvent for CTC’s scientific coordinators and project leaders.
  • Work with data engineers to deploy code and manage CI/CD pipelines.
  • Lead the ownership of ML models from conception to implementation.
  • Collaborate on data standardization and processing with the data team.

This role requires you to have:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience as a data scientist or AI developer.
  • Proficiency in programming with Python and using version control systems.
  • Experience with LCA modeling tools like SimaPro or Gabi.

You would benefit from having:

  • Experience with NoSQL databases.
  • Skills in using Apache Kafka/Spark/SQL.
  • Expertise in relational and non-relational databases.
