In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Develop and refine algorithms and machine learning models to enhance recommendations on otto.de.
- Choose from a spectrum of approaches, from rule-based to transformer models, depending on the problem.
- Engage in the full data science process from concept to live deployment, ensuring smooth operation.
- Conduct feature engineering and implement models focused on improving customer satisfaction.
- Stay updated with the latest research in data science and AI to continuously improve the product vision.
- Collaborate closely within a cross-functional team including product managers and engineers.
- Participate in a pragmatic, agile team that values pair programming.

This role requires you to have:
- Several years of experience in the entire data science product cycle.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with various machine learning algorithms.
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Experience with cloud technologies, specifically developing models in AWS.
- Team player with an analytical and agile mindset.
- Fluency in German (C1 level) and English (B2 level).
You would benefit from having:
- Master’s degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
- Interest in functional programming using Clojure.
- Experience with ranking or recommender systems.
- Familiarity with behavioral data in e-commerce contexts.
