In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain routines for managing and reporting fishery data for member countries.
  • Create user-friendly data access approaches for scientists and staff.
  • Work with the Regional Data Manager to enhance data management systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless data exchange.
  • Monitor and report the status of data in the regional master database.
  • Implement data integration processes for cohesive datasets.
  • Design and implement data quality routines to rectify discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with the Regional ER Technical Coordinator on data quality standards.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve data management processes.
  • Stay updated on data handling technologies and implement them as needed.
  • Innovate in data collection, auditing, storage, and analysis.
  • Develop comprehensive metadata and robust database documentation.
  • Support data analyses and scientific reports.
  • Conduct descriptive and statistical analyses.
  • Collaborate with member countries and other organizations on scientific projects.
  • Regularly update the database with new data and research outcomes.
  • At the senior level, autonomously lead initiatives to enhance the team’s capacity and work quality.
  • Identify knowledge and skill gaps within the team and seek solutions.

This role requires you to have:

  • Proven experience in data management with large-scale relational databases using SQL Server or similar.
  • Fisheries knowledge and experience with fisheries database systems.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD.
  • Experience with data integration and transformations using SQL.
  • Database documentation and metadata development experience.
  • Experience as a data analyst supporting clients.
