This role within the Early Chemical Development department supports enzyme discovery and process innovation from early-phase drug development through to production. The team is pivotal to creating sustainable and innovative solutions in biocatalysis.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Lead bioinformatics and molecular modelling for enzyme design.
  • Manage enzyme variant data and drive biocatalysis data strategy.
  • Collaborate to develop computational results databases and dashboards.
  • Design enzyme panels using genome and database mining.
  • Develop data analysis pipelines for screening and sequencing data.
  • Provide bioinformatics expertise across all stages of drug development.
  • Coordinate with partners to integrate new technologies in enzyme design.
  • Integrate biocatalytic routes with retrosynthetic software.
  • Facilitate technology transfer to external manufacturing partners.
  • Contribute to innovation through cross-functional network participation.
  • Stay updated with biocatalysis and bioinformatics advancements.

This role requires you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Expertise in protein structure analysis, simulation, and design tools.
  • Proficiency in Python and strong programming skills.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data science tools.
  • Experience with machine learning for protein design.
  • Ability to work on Linux-based HPC systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.

You would benefit from having:

  • PhD in computational structural biology or a related field.
  • Experience in enzyme panel design.
  • Understanding of biochemistry, biocatalysis, and molecular biology.
  • Experience with NGS sequence data analysis.
  • Knowledge of SQL for database management.
