AWE is recruiting a Data Scientist to join their Systems Assessment Group, contributing to the Nuclear Threat Reduction mission. This opportunity is tailored for physicists with a strong interest in Data Science, aiming to solve real-world problems in nuclear threat reduction with a dynamic team. The successful candidate will develop and utilize data science skills to support decision-making and optimize processes within AWE.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Develop and apply data science skills to address nuclear threat reduction challenges.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams on radiation detection, computational modelling, and machine learning projects.
  • Support decision-making through data science analysis and modelling.
  • Optimize data science processes, analysis, and experimental design for nuclear defense insights.

This role requires you to have:

  • Degree in Physics or a related applied science field.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as R, Python, MATLAB, C++, and FORTRAN.

  • Familiarity with statistical analysis, machine learning libraries, and software development lifecycle.
