The Home Office's Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) team plays a critical role in maintaining the UK's safety and security through technology. Data Services and Analytics (DSA), a part of DDaT, is a hub of data expertise that develops data products for various interdepartmental needs. This growing team is seeking a Data Engineer to contribute to its mission of delivering precise data insights.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teams to design and implement data systems.
- Develop data models and enrichment processes.
- Produce and test data products from multiple systems.
- Write and optimize code from prototype to production.
- Conduct data profiling and source system analysis.

This role requires you to have:
- Proficiency in SQL for complex database queries.
- Experience in Python and/or Java coding.
- Understanding of Cloud Data Technologies, particularly AWS and Azure.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of data engineering principles.
You would benefit from having:
- Experience with data mapping and modelling.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and scheduling systems.
- Proficiency in cloud solutions such as Kubernetes and Kafka.
