The Scottish Funding Council, a leading authority in Scotland's education and research sector, is looking for a Senior Data Analyst. This role is crucial in offering expert analysis and insights to support decision-making across the Council's senior leadership and the wider educational sector. In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality insights and analysis to align with SFC priorities.
  • Develop innovative approaches for solving analytical problems and present clear results.
  • Create comprehensive reports and dashboards utilizing advanced statistical methods.
  • Communicate analysis effectively through written or oral presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Source additional data to enhance existing datasets.
  • Manage and mentor other analysts in the team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across SFC for policy development support.
  • Represent the Council in committees and stakeholder meetings.
  • Provide guidance to various internal and external stakeholders.

This role requires you to have:

  • Strong analytical and consultancy skills for clear data insights.
  • Effective team collaboration skills.
  • Previous experience in line management.
  • Strategic thinking and action abilities.
  • Proficient oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced IT skills including Excel, SQL, and programming experience in R or Python.
  • Ability to convey complex information to non-expert audiences.
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience in a quantitative field.

You would benefit from having:

  • Understanding of the further and higher education sector.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure tools.
  • Proficiency in business intelligence tools like Power BI or Qlikview.
  • Certification in statistical analysis.
