Data Engineer

Steamship Mutual, a global P&I insurance company, is seeking a Data Engineer. The role is based in their London office, among a team that spans offices worldwide. The Data Engineer will support the Data Manager and work within the Data Team to enhance data solutions and impact decision-making through effective data management and analysis.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Implement data quality, security, and governance policies.
• Manage data pipeline projects, including code review and deployment.
• Design and maintain Data LakeHouse and related repositories.
• Perform data ingestion from files, databases, APIs, and streaming platforms.
• Transform and cleanse data using SQL, Python, or R.
• Ensure data accuracy and compliance through validation and testing.
• Develop data models and warehousing strategies.
• Optimize pipeline performance and scalability.
• Produce data visualizations, reports, and dashboards.
• Explore data for management insights and intelligence.

This role requires you to have:

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer.
• Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Python or R.
• Proficient in Power BI.
• Experience with data lakehouses and Azure data tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
