ORBCOMM, a leader in IoT technology, seeks a Junior Data Engineer to join their Data Platform Team. This role involves designing and maintaining data pipelines to support IoT solutions, ensuring scalable infrastructure for a global customer base. Reporting to the SVP for Innovation, the successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment while enjoying a flexible hybrid work schedule.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Design and implement ETL/ELT processes using Microsoft Azure Data Factory
- Maintain and optimize SQL Server databases and data warehouses
- Develop and maintain data pipelines for IoT device data
- Collaborate with analytics teams for data quality and accessibility
- Support data governance practices and documentation
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues
- Participate in code reviews and continuous integration practices

This role requires you to have:
- 1-2 years of experience with Microsoft data technologies
- Strong SQL skills with SQL Server or Azure SQL Database
- Experience with Azure Data Factory or similar ETL tools
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
- Familiarity with Python or PowerShell
- Experience with version control systems like Azure DevOps or Git
- Knowledge of data quality and validation techniques
- Understanding of basic data security principles
- Excellent problem-solving skills

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
