In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Assess and resolve application vulnerabilities and undertake upgrades.
  • Maintain Information Technology Service Accreditation for the Data Intelligence Platform.
  • Provide support for internal and external audit requirements.
  • Offer on-call production support for critical applications.
  • Translate logical designs into physical designs and create detailed documentation.
  • Ensure infrastructure service level agreements are met.
  • Set standards for programming tools and techniques and ensure compliance.
  • Lead all stages of the data engineering development process.
  • Advise and assist less experienced colleagues.
  • Resolve problems in platforms, systems, and services.
  • Collaborate with Service Owners and Scrum Masters on project priorities and stakeholder negotiations.
  • Support tool and technique usage for release and deployment activities.

This role requires you to have:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Proficiency with the Apache Ecosystem, including HDFS, Spark, and Hive.
  • Experience with Terraform and Snyk.
  • Capability to review and recommend development techniques and vendor products.
  • Ability to validate functionality and performance of development projects.
  • Skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues during the application lifecycle.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Business, or related fields.

You would benefit from having:

  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working.
  • Experience in building relationships with suppliers.
  • Certification in relevant technical and management disciplines.
