Westpac’s Transaction Data Product Service, part of the Technology Engineering team under the DPAI service, is focused on providing superior data products for WNZL transactions. The team is made up of skilled professionals dedicated to collaboration and innovation. The Senior Data Engineer role exists to apply technical and domain expertise across design, maintenance, and enhancement of data services.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Engage in data engineering activities and offer expertise to both IT staff and users.
- Design, build, maintain, and enhance data systems.
- Review development techniques and recommend enhancements.
- Validate performance and functionality of projects.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues during application lifecycle.
- Participate in planning and project sessions.
- Apply quality assurance and process improvement measures.

This role requires you to have:
- Working knowledge of software and application development principles.
- Understanding of development lifecycles and models.
- Experience with Kafka, Java/Scala, JVM, Python, Git, AWS, Cloud, Virtualisation.
You would benefit from having:

- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or related fields.
- Relevant certifications in technical and management areas.
