American Express Innovation Laboratories Limited is seeking a Manager, Data Science to be a part of their energetic A.I./Machine Learning cross-functional team. As a Manager, you will collaborate with various business/product partners to drive strategic capabilities in the AI field. This role resides within American Express Technology (AET) – Enterprise Services Decision Science Center of Excellence (CoE). In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Combine A.I./Machine Learning and Technology knowledge to implement highly scalable solutions in areas such as Generative AI, Personalization, Image Recognition, Speech Recognition, Natural Language Processing, Best Next Action, and Time Series predictions
• Build solutions from identifying business problems to delivering production-grade solutions at scale
• Research the latest academic papers and explore new ideas that can enhance existing solutions
• Define deployment strategies for production-quality AI solutions in Cloud infrastructure
• Lead technical designs and conduct design reviews
• Ensure code health and quality across the portfolio, as well as innovation, functional testing, and CI/CD tool integration
• Provide technical mentorship to junior team members
• Participate actively in business and technical discussions and forums

This role requires you to have:

• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related STEM fields. PhD degree preferred
• Proven track record of producing outstanding research results
• Ability to effectively communicate complex technical subjects
• Solid project management skills to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Hands-on experience with GCP and/or AWS is a plus
• 2+ years of full lifecycle product development and engineering leadership
• 2+ years of experience in building and delivering sophisticated AI solutions and scalable machine learning algorithms
• Expertise in at least one of the following fields: Generative AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Natural Language Processing, Optimization, Probabilistic Inference, Information Retrieval, Recommendation Systems, Bayesian Inference, Advanced time series forecasting
• Hands-on experience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Kubeflow Pipelines, ML Run
• Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos + Marathon
• Experience with model serving platforms like Kubeflow KF Serving, TF Serving, Seldon-Core, MLflow
• Knowledge of observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, Scala, Julia
• Experience with machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, ScikitLearn, H20.ai, XGBoost, MXNet
• Understanding of feature stores like Hopsworks, Feast, or other purpose-built feature stores
• Familiarity with model formats like ONNX, PMML
