The NASA Exoplanet Science Institute (NExScI), part of Caltech, seeks a Scientific Data Analyst for the NASA Exoplanet Archive. This position plays a vital role in supporting the Exoplanet Community and NASA's exploration initiatives.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineering and scientific teams to update the exoplanet database and archive.
- Select, extract, and analyze data from astrophysical literature and NASA mission contributions.
- Reformat and manage data within the archive.

This role requires you to have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in astronomy, physics, computer science, or a related field.
- Basic computer skills across Windows, Mac OS, or Linux/Unix.
- Proficiency in basic programming and scripting languages such as Python, perl, or shell.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools like Excel and text editors.
You would benefit from having:
- Knowledge of astronomical terminology and coordinate systems.
- Experience with exoplanet nomenclature and observing techniques.
- Demonstrated programming skills in Python, perl, or shell.
