The City of Syracuse’s Neighborhood and Business Development Department is seeking a Data & Mapping Analyst. This position supports data analysis and GIS mapping essential for the department's focus on neighborhood growth and economic inclusion. The role involves collaborating with key personnel and aligning with the department's guiding principles.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Clean, analyze, and interpret data from various datasets.
- Manage datasets and geospatial data effectively.
- Create visualizations and maps to convey findings.
- Perform economic and geospatial research and analysis.
- Conduct impact analysis on development projects and policies.
- Review data policies for legal and ethical issues.
- Collect site data to aid development funding decisions.
- Prepare development recommendations with detailed data analysis.
- Generate reports and GIS maps to track development initiatives.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements for team processes.
- Provide technical support to department projects.
- Contribute to various data projects across city departments.

This role requires you to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or related experience.
- 1-3 years in business analytics, data science, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with the U.S. Census Bureau products.
- Experience with ArcGIS or QGIS for spatial data analysis.
