Cornell Tech's Initiative for CryptoCurrencies and Contracts (IC3) is seeking an IC3 Data Scientist to join their team. As an IC3 data scientist, you will work with various research groups to advance their projects and contribute to the blockchain community. This fixed-term position, located in New York City, offers a hybrid work arrangement with some remote work possibilities.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with research groups in IC3 to understand and advance their projects
  • Organize, analyze, and interpret blockchain and blockchain-relevant data
  • Present research results to the research and broader blockchain community
  • Implement systems for data preservation
  • Engage in community outreach through presentations and educational materials
  • Contribute to research projects on blockchain systems using on- and off-chain data
  • Identify and mine reliable internal and external data sources
  • Design custom tools to optimize data mining, cleaning, validation, and analysis tasks
  • Develop and apply custom data models and algorithms
  • Create and present reports detailing findings, recommendations, and solutions
  • Utilize deep learning and pattern recognition for problem-solving
  • Deploy data tools such as Python, R, SAS, or SQL for data analysis
  • Develop algorithms and data models for forecasting outcomes

This role requires you to have:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, data analytics, or related discipline
  • Up to 2 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Industry experience with blockchain technology
  • Familiarity with smart contracts
  • Experience working with an academic research group
  • Knowledge of and experience working with data from Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs)
  • Experience using Tableau
  • Experience using Python, R, SQL, and possibly C, C++, Java, and/or JavaScript
  • Experience with platforms such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, MySQL
  • Experience with business intelligence and data analytics tools
  • Experience with blockchain data analysis from on and off-chain sources
  • Proficiency with technical writing and public speaking
  • Familiarity with machine learning and statistical techniques
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships
