Data Engineer - Costco Travel

Costco Wholesale, one of the largest retailers worldwide, is seeking a Data Engineer for their Costco Travel team. This role is integral for maintaining and optimizing data pipelines to facilitate data accessibility for reporting, data science, and machine learning applications. The Data Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all database systems operate smoothly, efficiently, and effectively.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Develop complex SQL and Python scripts for various data sources.
• Implement streaming data pipelines using event/message-based architectures.
• Communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences in written and verbal formats.
• Collaborate with Data Architects to align data architecture requirements.
• Define and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture.
• Identify and implement internal process improvements, including automation of manual processes.
• Optimize data delivery and orchestration.
• Analyze data to identify anomalies and trends.
• Develop data pipelines for data model storage.
• Demonstrate proficiency in data integration techniques and tools.
• Optimize existing SQL code for performance.
• Work across teams to solve complex technical challenges.
• Mentor development teams on SQL and data principles.
• Develop and operationalize Azure-based ETL pipelines.

This role requires you to have:

• 5+ years data engineering experience with a Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years SQL server experience.
• 3+ years experience with Azure and equivalent platforms.
• 3+ years experience creating data pipelines and ETL solutions.
• 2+ years Python experience.
• Expertise in MS SQL scripting and server.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced agile development environment.
