Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology seeks innovative ways to enhance storytelling experiences and revolutionize their media business. The Ad Platforms group is vital in supporting Disney's digital properties like Hulu and ESPN+. As part of the Ad Intelligence team, the Data Engineer II role focuses on driving the evolution of advertising platforms using advanced big data and machine learning techniques.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Develop large-scale data platform components for real-time and batch processing.
- Enhance cloud-based big data infrastructure for batch and streaming applications.
- Promote engineering best practices including design patterns, CI/CD, and code reviews.
- Engage in the software lifecycle from design to testing.
- Collaborate with managers, researchers, and engineers in an open innovation environment.
- Oversee technical operations of the Data & BI channel.
- Monitor and resolve production service issues; provide on-call support.
- Manage incident escalations and provide Tier 2/3 support.
- Deliver on key performance metrics for channel health and growth.
- Forge strong partnerships to focus on strategic channel objectives.
- Analyze and report on the impact of strategic and market changes.

This role requires you to have:
- Data engineering with large pipelines
- SQL expertise
- Experience with Apache NiFi or Airflow
- Programming in Python, R, Scala, Java
- Business intelligence tools such as Tableau
- Effective communication and documentation
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
You would benefit from having:
- Ad technology experience
- Cloud infrastructure expertise
- Experience with Druid, Snowflake, Presto, Kinesis
- Understanding of network topologies and system architecture
