The Data Analyst 2 is integral to the Bureau of Vital Records, focusing on enhancing data evaluation and reporting processes. The role aims to improve data quality and reporting efficiency, supporting the NYS Department of Health's objectives. This position is vital in supervising analytics staff and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive quality improvements.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for data evaluation and analysis.
  • Supervise analytics unit staff, set goals, and assess outcomes.
  • Write advanced scripts for programming and statistical analysis.
  • Create dashboards and infographics for data visualization.
  • Collaborate with NYS Department of Health and other agencies.
  • Support day-to-day data activities and modernization efforts.
  • Assist in research and fulfill data requests.

This role requires you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or related field.
  • Three years of experience in data visualization and statistical models.
  • Proficiency in tools like SAS, SQL, Python, or R, Tableau, SAS BI, Power BI.
