Data Scientist II

M&T Bank is looking for a Data Scientist II to work on advanced data systems and models, driving business value through data insights. The role exists to facilitate data-driven decision-making within the team, which is focused on enhancing products and addressing complex business challenges.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Analyze structured problems with different analytical and statistical approaches.
• Prepare data sets for analysis through sourcing, ingestion, and cleaning.
• Build and validate statistical and machine learning models for various analytical tasks.
• Commit and promote code into production systems with guidance.
• Participate in developing champion/challenger models.
• Develop model outputs for business discussions.
• Conduct exploratory analysis for new modeling approaches.
• Ensure code efficiency and adherence to best practices.
• Adhere to company risk and regulatory standards.

This role requires you to have:

• Minimum of 6 years higher education and/or work experience.
• Coursework in statistics or data science principles.
• Basic proficiency with statistical software and languages.
• Understanding of hybrid databases, cloud-based and on-premise.
• Intermediate knowledge of SQL and nSQL.
• Basic experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis.
