The Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), established by the California Legislature in 1970, functions as the metropolitan planning organization for the San Francisco Bay Area. MTC oversees the allocation of significant funds to local public transit and manages bridge tolls to sustain regional infrastructure. In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Analyze financial and performance data related to transit operations and funding.
- Develop visualizations and dashboards using Tableau and Excel.
- Coordinate with transit agencies for data collection and policy proposal inputs.
- Administer funding programs like Senate Bill 125 for emergency operations.
- Enhance the Regional Transit Capital Inventory and integrate spatial data.
- Support strategic planning for transit asset management.
- Prepare materials for Commission review, ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
- Integrate workflows and administer databases for multiple projects.
- Conduct research on technical issues and interpret data through visualizations.
- Create workflows using Python or R for data integration.
- Update the Transit Finance Working Group on funding opportunities.
