The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is dedicated to enhancing the environmental and public health of New Yorkers by providing substantial water and waste management services. As part of its Bureau of Water Supply, the Data Scientist will support the Data Analysis and Reporting Group, focusing on analyzing water quality to ensure compliance with state and federal standards.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Investigate and report on regulatory compliance and water quality operations issues.
- Serve as a liaison for technical water quality concerns among internal and external groups.
- Participate in administrative functions of the Data Analysis and Reporting unit.

This role requires you to have:
- Master's degree in physical, biological, environmental sciences, or public health.
- Experience in a supervisory, administrative, or research capacity in a relevant field.
You would benefit from having:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Adobe, Access, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with SQL, R, Python, GIS, and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Strong understanding of relational databases.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
