The Office of the Comptroller of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is dedicated to improving its data analytics processes and seeks a Data Analyst I to join their team. Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, the role exists to provide vital insights and enhance analytical practices. The team works collaboratively to integrate data analytics into various work processes and support key information needs.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Understand data structures and metadata in all technical environments.
• Develop SQL queries for extracting and summarizing information.
• Assist in data analysis and inference with a focus on analysis objectives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure clarity and technical compliance.
• Review service requests for quality and documentation standards.
• Translate and model data according to service requirements.
• Mentor analysts on best practices and tool usage.
• Ensure compliance with data policies such as HIPAA.
• Assist audit teams with data analysis.
• Analyze internal and external data to identify trends and risks.
• Handle ad-hoc analytics requests.
• Support data acquisition and discovery processes.
• Prepare summaries with supporting documentation for analysis results.
• Establish proactive interactions with auditors and business managers.
• Present data findings and support project objectives.
• Conduct presentations for different management levels.
• Stay updated with new languages and technologies.

This role requires you to have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, etc.)
• Proficiency in T-SQL and SSMS or equivalent query tools
• Data analysis and visualization skills using Qlik, Cognos, ArcGIS, or Tableau
• Advanced Excel capabilities
• Strong organizational and detail-oriented skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
