The T&D Data Scientist I role plays a critical part in supporting initiatives around wildfire risk and electric service reliability. The team works across various departments to innovate solutions and drive data-driven strategic decisions.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis for wildfire risk modeling and reliability projects.
  • Manage data science projects through their lifecycle from inception to maintenance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex issues and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Provide analytical support for T&D Operations, focusing on wildfire mitigation and reliability.
  • Develop computational analysis tools and integrate them within company processes.
  • Engage with industry and collegiate groups influencing utility policies.
  • Promote data literacy and scripting skills across teams.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer service.

This role requires you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Math, or Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Python or related languages.
  • Experience with SQL query construction and optimization.
  • Strong technical writing and data visualization skills.
  • Project management skills and ability to communicate complex data effectively.
  • Knowledge of data science best practices and governance.

You would benefit from having:

  • Experience with time series modeling and forecasting.
  • Familiarity with public utility commission regulations.
  • Expertise in utilities or wildfire mitigation sectors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure Machine Learning.
  • Experience with C#, Spark, or R.
  • Knowledge in wildfire science and geospatial tools like ArcGIS Pro.
