The State of Connecticut's Insurance Department is committed to consumer protection and enforcing state insurance laws to ensure fair treatment of policyholders. They are looking for a Data Scientist to join the Property & Casualty unit in the Actuarial Division, aiding in complex research, statistical analysis, and data-driven projects.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Direct and conduct specialized research investigations, statistical analysis, and data-driven studies.
  • Develop and improve processes to monitor financial solvency, market conduct, and complaints.
  • Establish monitoring programs for climate risk and cyber risk insurance markets.
  • Assist in validating data usage and risks in AI, ML, and predictive modeling projects.

This role requires you to have:

  • Research design methods
  • Statistical analysis
  • Database management
  • Data processing computer programming for statistical analysis
  • Data retrieval and analysis
  • Written and oral communication

  • Insurance membership with FCAS or ACAS

The Connecticut Insurance Department offers a hybrid work arrangement with a 40-hour workweek (Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm) in Downtown Hartford.
