The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for a Traffic Data Analyst with a strong background in data analysis and transportation systems. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting traffic data to aid in federal reporting, transportation planning, and enhancing traffic data management strategies.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Collect traffic data from various devices and sources, maintaining databases to meet federal reporting standards.
  • Analyze traffic data for patterns, trends, and anomalies, supporting annual reporting and review of traffic statistics.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate findings and support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with field staff, city planners, and engineers, providing technical support and insights for traffic management solutions.
  • Ensure data quality and accuracy, continuously improving data collection and analytical methods.
  • Manage and coordinate traffic data analysis projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to requirements.

This role requires you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business administration, math, information science, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience as a data analyst or traffic analyst with a focus on traffic data.
  • Proficiency with tools and software such as Excel, SQL, Python, R.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI and statistical analysis software.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Understanding of traffic management systems and transportation modeling.

You would benefit from having:

  • Experience with data visualization tools including Microsoft Power BI, Google Looker Studio, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning.
  • Experience with Google Workspace.
  • Knowledge of UDOT data sets and transportation/government experience.
  • Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS and geospatial data tools.

Potential for hybrid work post-training, within Utah. Typical office conditions with minimal physical demands. Opportunities for reassignment as necessary.
