The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) seeks a Traffic Data Analyst to enhance their team. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting traffic data to meet federal reporting needs and improve transportation planning and data management strategies.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Collect traffic data from various devices and sources; maintain and update traffic databases.
  • Analyze Continuous Count Station traffic data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and visualizations to communicate data findings to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with staff, leaders, city planners, transportation engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of traffic data and analysis; seek improvement opportunities.
  • Manage and coordinate traffic data analysis projects.

This role requires you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, business administration, math, information science, or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience as a data analyst, traffic analyst, or similar role with a focus on traffic data.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools and software such as Excel, SQL, Python, and R.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with traffic management systems and GIS.

You would benefit from having:

  • Expertise in data visualization tools like Microsoft Power BI, Google Looker Studio, and ArcGIS Online.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning integration.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with UDOT data sets.
  • Knowledge of transportation and/or government sectors.
  • Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS software.
  • Skill in working with geospatial data and tools for mapping and analysis.
  • Ability to integrate GIS functionalities in data processes.

This position may offer a hybrid work arrangement with eligibility for remote work after the initial training period. Remote work must be within Utah. The position includes typical office-related risks and physical requirements, and the employee might be reassigned to different locations as needed by the Group Leader.
