Stony Brook Medicine, part of the Stony Brook University Hospital system, is committed to providing top-tier medical care. This role exists to support HR functions by managing data systems and improving HR processes. The HR Data Analyst will work closely with management and HR teams to ensure seamless operation and enhancement of HR information systems.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the HRIS, including customization, development, and upgrades
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance for HRIS users
  • Serve as an advisor to business partners, providing insights on system capabilities
  • Develop standard operating procedures for HR processes
  • Manage system permissions, access, and settings for users
  • Ensure data integrity through regular audits and implement corrective measures
  • Manage employee lifecycle and data transactions within the HRIS
  • Liaise between HR, information services, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Identify and implement system improvements with HR staff and management
  • Ensure compliance with data security and privacy requirements
  • Stay informed on trends and developments in HRIS technology
  • Develop dashboards and reports in collaboration with HR and subject matter experts
  • Conduct scheduled and ad hoc HR data analytics
  • Enhance HRIS processes for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Create training materials and user guides for LMS and HRIS
  • Manage the LMS system and ensure organizational compliance
  • Provide training on system functionality to end users and HR partners
  • Independently manage HR projects to completion
  • Troubleshoot complex processes and manage them to resolution
  • Perform other duties as assigned

This role requires you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Business Administration, or HR
  • Understanding of HR processes, HRIS database design, and experience with database tools
  • Experience in creating training materials and delivering training
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience working within an HRIS system with high-level Excel proficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and technical support skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with HR policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions
  • Understanding of information systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Adaptable to change and new ideas
  • Teamwork and cooperation

You would benefit from having:

  • Master's degree in related fields
  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources
  • Experience in HR analytics and metrics
  • HR experience in the healthcare industry
  • Experience with union environments and collective bargaining agreements
  • SHRM/PHR certification
  • Experience with ADP, HealthStream (LMS), Peoplesoft, or Oracle HCM
  • Advanced Excel skills
