The Texas Water Development Board is dedicated to leading the charge in ensuring Texas’s water future is secure. The Coastal Science Department is in search of a Coastal Ecologist to carry out ecological data analysis and modeling work. This position plays a pivotal role in supporting critical water resource planning and environmental assessments.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Conducts statistical data analysis and ecological modeling of surface water resources for Texas estuaries.
  • Develops and applies ecological models to assess freshwater inflow needs.
  • Assists in implementing ecological modules for hydrodynamic models.
  • Leads outreach programs initiated by the Coastal Science Department.
  • Writes and maintains scripts using R, Python, and ArcGIS.
  • Prepares technical memos and reports.
  • Provides data and technical support to stakeholders.
  • Participates in field studies and data management.

This role requires you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Experience in statistical or quantitative modeling.
  • Knowledge of ecological modeling and analysis.

You would benefit from having:

  • Graduate degree in related field.
  • Experience in linking hydrological models.
  • Advanced statistical and geospatial analysis skills.
  • Experience with ESRI products and programming languages.
