The Wildlife Futures Program (WFP) at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC), is seeking a Data Analyst. The position supports the development of the Shared Wildlife Health Information System (SWHIS), a cloud-based tool for managing wildlife health data. The role requires collaboration with the Geospatial Solutions team and involves managing infrastructure, developing new features, and engaging with stakeholders.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

  • Contribute to back-end cloud-based infrastructure management with the Timmons Group for supporting SWHIS stakeholders.
  • Integrate existing database systems for managing wildlife health data.
  • Promote SWHIS to new stakeholders via presentations and one-on-one meetings.
  • Support data visualization and reporting needs for Wildlife Futures personnel.
  • Provide grant writing support for further SWHIS development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

This role requires you to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or health science discipline.
  • 2-4 years of professional experience.
  • Experience with data manipulation including mining, cleaning, organizing, querying, and analyzing.
  • Fluency in Python and R Shiny.
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying findings to various audiences.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and working under short deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

You would benefit from having:

  • Experience with animal health and diagnostic data.
