The University of Minnesota, a leading public research institution, is looking for a Data Engineer to join the Office of Information Technology. This role aims to enhance the University's data architecture, supporting the development of data-driven products and initiatives. The team focuses on integrating large data sets from diverse sources, improving data access and analysis.
In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:
- Support change data capture techniques for Oracle databases.
- Create data pipelines to Databricks on Microsoft Azure.
- Model data structures independent of PeopleSoft.
- Implement SQL and NoSQL data structures on Oracle and Azure.
- Manage data security, including access reviews.
- Monitor and maintain data integrations and flows.
- Mentor staff on best practices with Databricks.
- Provide expertise on Change Data Capture and Databricks.

This role requires you to have:
- Experience with cloud infrastructure.
- Experience in building data pipelines and optimizing data sets.
- BA/BS degree with 2 years experience or a Master’s degree.
You would benefit from having:
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and Databricks.
- Familiarity with higher education environments.
- Knowledge of message queuing and stream processing.
- SQL and NoSQL database experience, including Postgres and Cassandra.
- Experience in Agile and Scrum methodologies.
