Data Engineer

The University of Minnesota, a leading public research institution, is looking for a Data Engineer to join the Office of Information Technology. This role aims to enhance the University's data architecture, supporting the development of data-driven products and initiatives. The team focuses on integrating large data sets from diverse sources, improving data access and analysis.

In this role you can expect to have the responsibilities:

• Support change data capture techniques for Oracle databases.
• Create data pipelines to Databricks on Microsoft Azure.
• Model data structures independent of PeopleSoft.
• Implement SQL and NoSQL data structures on Oracle and Azure.
• Manage data security, including access reviews.
• Monitor and maintain data integrations and flows.
• Mentor staff on best practices with Databricks.
• Provide expertise on Change Data Capture and Databricks.

This role requires you to have:

• Experience with cloud infrastructure.
• Experience in building data pipelines and optimizing data sets.
• BA/BS degree with 2 years experience or a Master’s degree.

• Knowledge of message queuing and stream processing.
• SQL and NoSQL database experience, including Postgres and Cassandra.
